The single guys and I (Dan, Phil, Simon and I), walked up and down the strip and settled for a German bar with a balcony. On the way there however I was mobbed by a group of American girls, an experience I can live with! I got the standard "oh my god, your sooo British!" After a brief chat and one girl forcing her contact details on me, if only it were that easy normally! I headed up to the German bar as the lads had left me to fend for myself!
We had a couple of beers and headed home.
Today we had some free time in the morning so I went in search of a karst to climb.
All in and around the city are huge limestone karst mountains, jutting up rugged and randomly like green fingers coming out of the flat ground.
I found one that looked achievable, so I jumped a fence and a wall and started scrambling up through the dense vegetation. I made good, but very dangerous progress up the mountain, clambering up sheer rock faces. I had to call it a day at halfway though as I was starting to worry climbing down would be too tricky. I was right as I had a bit of a scare when a boulder I stood on came loose and hurtled down through the vegetation.
When I finally emerged from the undergrowth I wandered back through town and got a snappy haircut.
I then met up with the rest of the group and we went on a river cruise down the Li river. It was beautiful sailing through the severe karst's past water buffalo and wild birds.
I had a really good chat with Kevin about his run in with Jamie Oliver!
That evening Rich, Jen, Gabby and I walked up a paved and safe Karst in the pitch darkness after a beer. It was soo dark traversing the stairs was very difficult! At the bottom we saw some pimped out mopeds! They were covered in multicoloured Christmas lights scooting round the park trying to look hard, hilarious!
