Who Farted?

Rotarua is a pretty cool place.

However due to the hot mud pools and the sulphur in the air you cannot escape the pungent smell of eggy fart.

We arrived in the pouring rain to this geothermal hub and went straight to the museum. We went to learn all about how he shifting of tectonic plates creat friction and therefore heat leading to several geysers, hot springs and boiling mud pools.

The museum was pretty cool. Due to the rain we decided to treat ourselves to a couple of nights indoors! We stayed at this charming ramshackle hostel which was very homley. We spent the afternoon playing whirlpool in the hot spa pool. Jana cooked us a delicious chicken and apricot curry. And I wished Makoto a very happy birthday with a cake, candles and everything!

Today we went for a tour of the Maori thermal village and saw plenty more thermal pools and geysers. We also jumped a gate at the back of he park to explore more geysers and saw a couple of Kiwi birds.

We had big plans for st Patricks day! We were going to have dinner and watch lord of the rings before heading out to the club in town. Unfortunately I ate too much ice cream and fell asleep during the movie and missed the chance to go!
